Plinth or Pedestal

The difference between a plinth and a pedestal.

A plinth has skirting at the base, architrave and a moulded top. On the other hand a pedestal is plain sided without any decorative moulding.

Our plinths and pedestals provide a varied and flexible display platform for any artefact. They have been designed by us to be stable and safe in the public domain. All the plinths and pedestals are constructed from 18mm Medium Density Fibreboard, apart from lightweight Russian Dolls. They are bonded together under pressure using modern adhesives. Being mitred on the sides and the top they form a strong seamless structure. To improve their resistance to moisture they have been sealed with PVA and come with a metal glide to lift them off the ground by 2mm to create a shadow line.

Lightweight Russian Doll Pedestals

Following requests from several clients, we have developed a light weight pedestal. They are constructed from 9mm MDF. They come in a set of four and a set of six.

Acrylic Pedestals

Acrylic clear pedestals are ideal for creating a clean modern see through look. Being almost transparent they create a delicate appearance and can be used very effectively to develop a flexible all round display.

Finishing

To meet health and safety requirements they are primed, undercoated and finally top coated in modern acrylic water based brilliant white Eggshell. Any colour from the Dulux Colour range is available.
