Who are Liberty of London?
Liberty of London is an iconic, luxury department store based in the heart of London. Located on Great Marlborough Street, the store spans five floors complete with fashion, beauty, accessories, homewares and antique furniture.
Our Work with Liberty
Liberty first approached Plinths and Pedestals in March 2022 with the request to build some internal free standing wall displays. They required bespoke stands with non-marking wheels, allowing for vinyl wrapping to seamlessly integrate with their fantastic décor.
Our in-house team built the stands using fire rated materials and paint. We even had their requested colours mixed and applied. We then personally delivered the walls to their location where their onsite team applied the vinyl and put these in place. We offer vinyl but due to Liberty having an in-house team they opted to complete this element themselves.
Liberty Exhibition Stands
Yvonne from Liberty approached us again in July 2022 with a request to build some quilt display stands for their upcoming exhibition at the Birmingham NEC: “Festival of Quilts”.
Prior to the build, Yvonne shared a CAD drawing of her design and sizes with our team. Working closely with the Liberty team, we turned this design into a reality. Creating a strong, sustainable stand using fire rated wooden poles, industrial fixings, and spray finished to showcase Liberty's stunning fabrics.
This stand was due to be used at other locations around the world, so a simple build process was essential to ensure the team could disassemble and reassemble efficiently onsite. To ensure a seamless set up, the Plinths and Pedestals team personally delivered, installed and broke-down the stand at the exhibition.
Liberty Window Displays
In December 2022 Liberty approached Plinths and Pedestals again with a request to build their new window displays. We set to work and together with the Liberty team we ensured every stand was carefully built to fit around awkward shaped windows, small walkways, and cupboards. The stands also needed to be designed with the ability to be easily assembled within the window itself.
With the efficiency of the team at Liberty, providing numerous measurements and images, we were able to work at a distance but still achieve a fantastic end result. We even installed the display overnight to ensure it was ready for the next working day.
This display definitely “found the joy”.
Our Latest Project with Liberty
In January 2024 we installed the latest Liberty window display. From the design and CAD drawing, we created a display that could be easily installed and re-used in the future.
For this window display, the Plinths team designed and built numerous boxes that were then placed in window order. Photos were then taken and carefully numbered to ensure the textile team knew where and how to clad. Each box was then carefully dressed from the back during the installation. Spray finished caps were also applied to ensure the public could not see behind the scenes during installation.
A key part of this particular project was the lighting design for the internal boxes as they needed to perfectly light and showcase the products within each window. Once complete the display was installed overnight and the results were stunning.
Conclusion
The team at Plinths and Pedestals love working alongside Yvonne and the team at Liberty. Our incredible working relationship has grown from strength to strength.
It's great to hear how Liberty trust us to take the stress from every installation by providing a fantastic service alongside a high end product. Since our latest window display project we have built elements for other window displays, folding screens and plinths around the beautiful Liberty store.
